Frequently asked questions

How are positions advertised?
Open competitions are advertised in the "Vulcan Advocate" and "The Regional" and posted on this website.

When will I be contacted for an interview?

Due to the volume of applications received by Vulcan County, we are unable to respond to every submission.  We thank all those who apply and will contact those candidates selected for further consideration.  If you have not been contacted within 3 weeks of the competition's closing date, you can assume the position has been filled.

How long will my application be kept?

Applications and/or resumes will be kept on file for 3 months.

How can I prepare for the interview?

During the interview we will ask questions to draw from your current and past work experiences that are related to the position in order to assess how you would likely perform on the job  in the future.  This is based on the premise that past behaviour is the best predictor of future behaviour.

An interview panel of 3-4 will be used.  Typical participants are the direct supervisor, a human resources advisor and 1 or 2 employees from the administration department.  You can prepare by analyzing your work and life experiences and thinking of specific examples that give evidence of accomplishments and how you have demonstrated your skills that relate to the position you are applying for.

We thank you for your interest and wish you luck in your application!
